Customer Integrations Engineer | Integration Specialist - Software team

Full Time , Permanent role, Hybrid

(Must be open to relocation to Greater Montreal Area if out of province)

Our Client, a technological subsidiary of a Canadian Utility, is a leading full storage system service provider offering customized battery energy storage systems, control software, installation, commissioning, operation, inspection and management, and an end-of-life recycling program. Their products are installed on multiple locations of the electric grid and are monitored in real time by their operators.

In this path they are seeking an experienced Customer Integrations Engineer to join their rapidly growing software development team. you will be involved in software and hardware integration activities for our customer project deployments. You will be the bridge between our software and hardware teams, making this a great opportunity to rapidly grow your professional network within the company.

Our Client, currently being in the development and commercialization phase in a rapidly-growing domain, will offer plenty of opportunities for you to be directly and actively involved in the design and development of brand new product generations. Travel opportunities to participate in the commissioning of these new products in Canada, USA and internationally, will also be offered to you.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deploy controller code to projects
  • Configuration of PLCs (eg Allen Bradley, Schneider, Phoenix Contact)
  • Implementing the input / output tables of the interface with the PLCs
  • Managing the configuration of interface tables under a version management system (Git)
  • Development of scripts to automate certain deployment procedures
  • Programming and configuration of site communication equipment
  • Participate in preliminary and final tests, in-house and on-site
  • Participate in large-scale and stimulating programming projects in the field of automation
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to take our products to the next level
  • Carry out project estimates and deadlines
  • Conduct pre-operational checks
  • Carry out the commissioning of certain systems
  • Provide programming and diagnostic services

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, software, or equivalent
  • Automation experience
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), or Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as an engineer or as a candidate for the engineering profession; (for other provinces visit https://engineerscanada.ca/regulatory-excellence/engineering-regulators and find out if you are a member)

Specific Knowledge Areas

  • Networking knowledge (intermediate level)
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Ethernet / IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850
  • Matlab/Simulink, basic knowledge
  • Programming languages: Python, C/C++
  • Software development and version control (Git or equivalent)
  • Scripts development
  • PLC programming
  • Communication configuration tools
  • Knowledge of PLCs like Schneider, Allen Bradley and Phoenix Contact
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems
  • Ease of reading and understanding electrical and control and diagrams
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills in French and English
  • Asset: Knowledge of the energy sector
  • Asset: Knowledge of historian databases
  • Asset: Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python or other
